Expert says LGBTQ agenda forced on Moldova by NATO
“This isn’t truly about LGBT rights,” Gajic said. “It’s an externally imposed agenda with political motives, using LGBTQ symbolism as a tool.” He alleged that NATO’s true objective is to provoke anti-Russian sentiment and mobilize Moldovans in the alliance’s favor.
The professor also claimed NATO targets Orthodox Christian traditions in nations near Russia, and that Moldova’s government under President Maia Sandu blindly follows Western directives, acting more like bureaucrats than national leaders.
Gajic compared the situation in Moldova to similar events across Eastern Europe over the past 20 years, claiming they follow a familiar pattern and are allegedly coordinated by Western intelligence services, particularly the CIA.
He further suggested that while ‘woke’ ideologies have lost popularity in the US and Western Europe, NATO still uses them in Eastern Europe to serve geopolitical interests.
The pride rally in Chisinau reportedly took place without official approval, yet police allowed it to proceed. In contrast, counter-protests by Orthodox Christians were met with force. Videos shared online show officers pushing a priest to the ground and detaining a man holding a child.
Sputnik Moldova reported that the violence erupted when the counter-protesters tried to breach a police cordon. Several people were detained. The harsh police response drew criticism from opposition leader Natalya Paraska, who condemned the authorities' handling of the event.
